The master's and doctoral programs are offered by the Civil Engineering Department of Coppe, the national leader in teaching and research in that area. This department is a pioneer in the training of human resources and the development of technology to design oil and gas production structures, as well as geotechnics and water resources and environmental studies in Brazil.
The Civil Engineering department has strong interaction with industries, companies and government bodies. Its lines of research focus on the following areas: Oil and Gas; Water Resources and Environmental Studies; Structures and Materials; Computational Systems; Geotechnics; and Computational Mechanics.
