The master's and doctoral programs are offered by Coppe's Nanotechnology Engineering department. A pioneer in Brazil, this department obtained in its first year of operation (2013) the highest grade in the evaluation of Capes (5) for new programs.
As nanotechnology engineering has applications in a diverse range of human needs and sectors, students receive interdisciplinary training in a cutting-edge area with research activities carried out in modern laboratories, equipped with state-of-the-art instruments.
The research lines of the department focus on the following areas: Nanoscale Transportation Phenomena; Nanomaterials; Nanosystems, Nanostructures and Nanosensors; Synthesis of Nanostructured Materials; Nanomodeling; and Nanotechnology and Society.
