The master's and doctoral programs are offered by Coppe's Industrial Engineering department. A pioneer in Brazil, the department promotes the dialogue between the exact and natural sciences, and between the social and health sciences. Its students are prepared to work flexibly with comprehensive and interdisciplinary topics, dedicating themselves to projects and systems management that involve people, materials, equipment and environment, with application in industry, agriculture, the services sector, public administration and social initiatives.
The research lines of the department focus on the following areas: Management and Innovation; Operational Research; Economic and Environmental Engineering; and Group of High Studies.
