The master's and doctoral programs are offered by the Systems and Computer Engineering department of Coppe, a national reference in teaching and research in that area. It prepares human resources that are quickly absorbed by the market.
Students are trained to develop interdisciplinary activities in the areas of High Performance Computing and Telecommunications. In the latter, they work together with Coppe's Electrical Engineering and Industrial Engineering departments; the programs combine the technological component with the business aspect, an essential feature for the Telecommunications sector. Also, the programs track trends in the national and international research and contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge topics.
The research lines of the department focus on the following areas: Algorithms and Combinatorics; Architecture and Operating Systems; Database; Computer Graphics, Image Processing and Computer Vision; Software Engineering; Informatics and Society; Artificial intelligence; Optimization and Computer Networks.
