The master’s and doctoral programs are offered by the Transport Engineering department. With an interdisciplinary approach and strong interaction with governmental agencies, companies and organizations of civil society, this department forms human resources capable of responding to the varied demands of the movement of people and cargoes. It operates, along with other departments at Coppe, in the interdisciplinary areas of environmental engineering, road engineering and urban engineering.
In addition to being trained for the academic and scientific and technological research areas, students also find opportunities to work in transport management activities in public agencies and in companies in the commercial and industrial sectors.
The research lines of the department focus on the following areas: Traffic, Transportation Planning, Freight Transportation and Public Transportation.
