The master’s and doctoral programs are offered by Coppe's Mechanical Engineering Program. A pioneer in the country, the department provides an academically diverse and stimulating environment for teaching activities, scientific and technological research, and studies and projects in partnership with companies.
The department has a close interaction with the undergraduate course in Mechanical Engineering at the UFRJ. Its lines of research focus on the following areas: Acoustics, Vibrations and Dynamics; Fluid Mechanics; Solid Mechanics and Integrity of Materials; Microfluidics and Micro and Nanosystems; Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Robotics; and Thermal Engineering and Thermal Engineering.
